Pocono Township Road Department

Harold Werkheiser, Supervisor, Road Master

The Township presently has 9 full time employees which maintain the 78 miles of roads within the township.

ROAD REPAIRS:
The road crew will be out repairing the pot hoes and damaged roadways this summer. We ask for your cooperation when driving through work zones. PLEASE SLOW DOWN in work zones, obey flag persons, and signage in these areas, they are there to protect the lives of the Pocono Township Road Crew.

DRAINAGE DITCHES:                                                                                      Please do not install stones or other landscaping material within the roadside ditch as it can impair the drainage of stormwater. The ditches and drains are designed to carry water from the roadway and yards. Obstructions of ditches and drains slow the flow and cause backups and overflows of stormwater, flooding roadways and basements.

It is the homeowner's responsibility to maintain ditches and driveway culvert pipes on their property to keep the water flowing safely.

If you have any questions about your roadside ditch or wish to discuss any changes or modifications to drains or ditches on your property, please contact Harold Werkheiser, Roadmaster at 570-629-1922 Ext. 220
