On October 29th, 2008 the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Pocono
Township’s Sewage System was held. Pocono Township Supervisors: Jane
Cilurso, Chairwoman; Harold Werkheiser, Vice-Chairman; and Supervisor John
Bramley, were joined by State Representative Mario Scavello; Jim
Brunozzi of State Senator Mellow’s office; Monroe County Commissioner
Theresa Merli; representatives of Sanofi Pasteur, and RKR Hess
Associates; Chuck Leonard and Michelle Bisbing of Pocono Mountain
Economic Development Corporation; Tim McManus, Pocono Township
Solicitor; Ken Brown of Brodhead Creek Regional Authority; and the
contractors, Doli Construction and Leeward Construction.
Pocono Township is proud to be working with BCRA-Brodhead Creek Regional
Authority, Hamilton Township, the Borough of Stroudsburg, and Stroud
Township, in finding a regional solution in addressing the growing need for
improved infrastructure that will benefit all of the communities.
The sewage project will move quickly in the next few years. Completion of
the first phase from Swiftwater to Scotrun is scheduled to be completed in
the summer of 2009. The second phase will be constructed from Scotrun to
Bartonsville in 2009 to 2010. The remaining phase will be started 2010
-2011.
The Pocono Township Supervisors ask for your patience during construction of
the sewage lines. The supervisors are aware of the traffic concerns along
the sewage route, and are working with their engineers and the contractors
to limit any and all disruptions in traffic flows.
