Snowy RoadsSnow Removal

During a snow event, Pocono Townships road crew works round the clock to keep the streets safe for you. It is critical to the health and safety of township residents. We need your assistance during a storm to assure the snow removal process goes smoothly.

All vehicles must be parked off the Township road right-of-way during an ice or snowstorm and while snow removal is in progress. All vehicles not in compliance will be towed at the owners expense.
Do not deposit or cause to be deposited any snow or ice on public street or right of way. If possible, clear the shoulder area before you driveway entrance. It will help reduce the amount of snow deposited from the plow blade into your driveway entrance.  PennDOT's Snow Removal Diagram
Do not install large landscape objects such as fencing, rocks, and decorative items in the road right-of-way.  As with any objects that are placed within the legal road right-of-way, the township will not be responsible for correction or replacement if so damaged during the course of snow removal.
Mailboxes. During snow removal, occasionally mailboxes are damaged. Heavy snow coming off the plow may knock down mailboxes. This is not intentional, it occasionally happens. Please place your mailbox 4 feet from the township roadway, and inspect your mailbox before winter to be assured it is sturdy and in good repair. PennDOT suggests a Cantilever Mailbox Support to protect mailboxes.

Winter weather can be hazardous. Please use safe driving practices during snow events. Keep your vehicle in good repair with proper tires for driving in snow.  When approaching any snow removal vehicle stay back 300 feet and yield the right of way. Keep handy in your vehicle: sand, rags or mats for traction, small shovel, ice scraper/snow brush and flashlight in case of an emergency.
